The Palliative Care Hub has been developed by All Ireland Institute of Hospice and Palliative Care (AIIHPC) with a number of palliative care stakeholders to act as a gateway to information and resources about palliative care on the island of Ireland.
The Palliative Care Hub seeks to deliver this information and resources to a number of audiences through seven different components:
The Palliative Care Hub was created to fill a recognised gap in the palliative care sector for dedicated websites to help people from a variety of backgrounds access and find the information and resources they need.
There is already a large amount of information for the general public on the internet but sometimes finding and accessing this information can be difficult. The concept behind The Palliative Care Hub – Children and Young People, The Palliative Care Hub – Adult and The Palliative Care Hub – Carers is to link through to this information rather than replicating it. The content on the websites has been provided by professionals who have worked in palliative care for a number of years.
The Palliative Care Hub – Professional provides online resources for health and social care professionals and educators including a searchable ‘Resource Bank’ containing relevant reports, toolkits, guidance, education materials, videos and presentations and a ‘Policy and Guidelines’ section containing the key policy, strategy and guidelines for health and social care professionals working on the island of Ireland. The site also contains key information on developments within palliative care ‘Education and Practice’ along with information on upcoming and past events.
The Palliative Care Hub – Learning Platform works to underpin all of the websites by offering an online learning environment for both the public and professional. It also offers an environment for palliative care educators including hospice education providers to host their own learning materials.
