Palliative Care, End of Life and Bereavement Education Database

This database brings together courses and training in:

  • Palliative care
  • End-of-life care
  • Bereavement support


It covers opportunities across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.  It is designed to support health and social care professionals; students and members of the public find relevant education and training in one place.

How to Search for a Course

To find courses follow these simple steps:

  1. Start with a keyword search. Type “Palliative” into the Course Title or Course Code search box.  This will return courses that explicitly include “Palliative” in their title.
  2. Broaden your search (recommended) by ticking the option:
    “Include courses with matching keywords” (located directly beneath the search button). This will show:
    – Courses with “Palliative” in the title
    – Courses related to palliative care, even if the word is not in the title
  1. Filter by provider (optional). If you want courses from a specific institution or organisation, use the ‘Provider’ search option

By using both the keyword search and the “matching keywords” option it will ensure that users can access the full range of palliative care education opportunities available on Qualifax.

Choosing the Right Course

When deciding on a course think about:

  1. Who delivers it – Is it a credible organisation with recognised experience in palliative care?
  2. Quality and Standards – Does it link with recognised frameworks, such as the Palliative Care Competence Framework (Republic of Ireland) and or the Palliative Care Assessment Tool (Northern Ireland).
  3. Your goals – Does it match your learning needs and career plans.
  4. Recognition – Is it the qualification recognised in your area?
  5. Teaching expertise – Is the course delivered by experienced and qualified professional/s?
