Gerard Leddy MSC MCSP CF, Service Lead for Specialist Palliative Care in the Southern Health & Social Care Trust, Northern Ireland, presented findings and plans moving forward, following a visit to the Specialist Palliative Care access to Rural areas via Telehealth (SPaRTa) service in Queensland, Australia. The SPaRTa service uses telehealth to support patients with palliative care needs, increasing equitable access, reducing the number of hospital admissions, increasing the number of individuals who are dying at home and has proven to be cost effective. This webinar will set the scene for the need to increase capacity, improve equitable access, and show how we can use the learning from SPaRTa to consider different ways of working to meet these current needs in our communities and across the healthcare systems.
The webinar was aimed at health and social care professionals working across palliative care services
