National End of Life Survey
In 2023 Ireland’s first National End of Life Survey was carried out. Individuals who registered the death of a relative or friend that occurred between 1 September and 31 December 2022, were invited to participate in the survey between March and May 2023. Talking about sex, sexuality and relationships: Guidance and Standards
Together for Short Lives guidelines and standards ‘Talking about sex, sexuality and relationships’ aims to provide some key standards for health, social care and education staff working with young people who have life-limiting or life-threatening conditions (LLTCs).
It provides information about how best to support young people, and their families, in addressing sexuality, sexuality expression, relationships and intimacy, providing signposts to useful resources and examples of the law applied to practice. It is not a comprehensive ‘how to’ guide covering every aspect of sex, intimacy and relationships but aims to highlight some of the key issues that may arise and build confidence in how to approach the issue of sexuality with young people.

Palliative and End-of-Life Care at the Deep End: Trauma-informed and inclusive approaches to palliative and end-of-life care for people experiencing marginalisation.
Shaun Peter Qureshi, Churchill Fellow 2023, has published a report representing the results of his Churchill Fellowship research exploring overcoming the problem of inequity in palliative and end-of-life care access in the UK. This report is the culmination of international learning and discovery which has led to the development of ten recommendations for inclusive trauma-informed palliative care. The report focuses in detail on the needs of people who are in prison and people experiencing homelessness (encompassing all forms of homelessness and being vulnerably housed)
Expanding Specialist Palliative Care Access: Telehealth Solutions for Rural Communities – The Churchill Fellowship

This paper not only provides the opportunity to look at how we can work differently, supported by evidence and outcomes from other areas, but showcases the wonderful work being done by the SPaRTa team Palliative Care Queensland, which Gerard travelled to over the course of his Fellowship
Dying, Death and Bereavement in Ireland 2026
Death is an integral part of life and grief is a universal experience. How people die has changed radically over recent generations. People are living longer and for many, death comes much later in life. We are also more aware about the impact of grief on our lives. This Irish Hospice Foundation report brings together national and international research and data to examine the current realities of dying, death and bereavement in Ireland, revealing emerging trends in these areas, highlighting concerns, and actions and recommendations that will deliver improvements.
